Harlan County Tourism Generates Nearly $39 Million in Visitor Spending

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WXKQ) – New tourism data shows Harlan County’s visitor economy continued to grow in 2025.

According to figures released by the Kentucky Department of Tourism, visitors spent an estimated $38.9 million in the county last year, up about $200,000 from 2024.

The report found tourism supported 307 jobs, generated $6.1 million in labor income and produced $3 million in state and local tax revenue.

Harlan County ranked fifth in overall visitor spending among the 18 counties in Kentucky’s southeastern tourism region.
