The City of Hazard is getting a $10,000 grant from the Center for Rural Development and Appalachian Regional Commission to make a couple of intersections on Main Street a little safer. The Hazard Herald reports the project will add visually defined crosswalks, stops and merges to make it safer for pedestrians and the flow of traffic. The grant application was submitted as part of the strategic planning for the downtown area done together by the City of Hazard, the city-county Economic Development Alliance and the Hazard-Perry County Chamber of Commerce.
