The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control has finalized the football district alignments for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
Several schools in Eastern Kentucky were part of approved adjustments in Class 2A.
Leslie County and Knott County Central will move from District 8 to District 7, while Martin County and Prestonsburg will shift from District 7 to District 8.
In Class 3A, Letcher County Central’s request to move into Region 7 was approved, with the remainder of the alignment staying as originally proposed.
Letcher County Central will be placed in District 7 with East Carter, Floyd Central, Lawrence County and Russell, based on an accumulation of total travel time.
Also with a 15-2 vote, the Kentucky High School Athletic Association has officially sanctioned Girls Flag Football. The sport will officially begin as a sanctioned KHSAA sport during the 2027-2028 school year and will be played each year in the spring.
