After a 27-year career, Pikeville High School Athletic Director and Girls Basketball Head Coach Kristy Orem is stepping down. In a social media message Wednesday, Orem says she made the decision after careful consideration and many discussions with the administration. She says she plans to remain an advocate for women’s sport and is proud of the many young women who have gone into many professional careers. WYMT reports Orem led Pikeville to seven straight 15th Region championship game appearances from 2018-2024, and this year making the State Final at Rupp Arena. Orem says she is staying with the school district as the Food Service Director.
