A student at the Craft Academy for Excellence in Science and Mathematics at Morehead State University is being recognized for giving back to local veterans.
Breanna Cantrell, a junior from Letcher County, recently completed the “Thank-A-Vet Project,” providing care packages to the 99 residents of the Paul E. Patton Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard.
Cantrell organized the project as part of the Rogers Scholars program. She says what began as a program requirement became a personal mission to thank veterans for their service and make a positive difference in her community.
The Craft Academy is a dual-credit residential program that allows academically gifted Kentucky students to complete their final two years of high school while taking college classes at Morehead State.
