FRANKFORT, Ky. (WXKQ) – A bill toughening sentencing and parole requirements across Kentucky is now in effect.
House Bill 422, or Logan’s Law, was signed by Gov. Beshear on April 2.
The bill was named after 6-year-old Logan Tipton, who was killed during a home invasion in Versailles.
Logan’s Law expands the definition of a violent offender and increases the time select offenders must serve before parole.
The legislation also raises parole eligibility for life sentences from 25 to 30 years.
