Longtime Pike County community leader Eugene Welch Davis passed away December 29 at the age of 92 years old. He taught and coached at Pikeville High School in the 1950’s and 60’s, then had a 19-year career at First National Bank, before returning to teaching in the 80’s and 90’s. He was also deacon at First Baptist Church for many years and spent three decades on the Pikeville City Commission. Mountain Top News reports there is visitation today and tomorrow at First Baptist Church with his funeral Sunday at Pikeville High School under the direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home.
