The Harlan County Coroner’s office says a medical emergency may have led to a crash in which a man was killed in Baxter on Tuesday afternoon. Deputy Coroner John Jones confirms to WYMT that 81-year-old John “Jay” Howard died around 1pm when his pickup truck went off Carroll Drive into a vacant wooded lot, hit a tree and flipped over. An autopsy will be done as the accident investigation continues.
