Congressman Hal Rogers says nearly 65 million dollars for key Eastern Kentucky projects has cleared the House Appropriations Committee and is headed to the full House for consideration.
The funding package includes 26 million dollars for improvements to the U.S. 460 corridor between Salyersville and Paintsville, aimed at increasing roadway safety and supporting economic growth throughout the region.
Another 20 million dollars would help extend the runway at Hazard’s Wendell H. Ford Airport, a project designed to improve safety and create new commercial and industrial opportunities.
The proposal also includes 7 million dollars for water infrastructure upgrades through the Southern Water and Sewer District in Floyd County, benefiting more than 14,000 homes, businesses, schools and healthcare facilities.
Martin County would receive 7-point-3 million dollars for downtown Inez infrastructure and utility improvements, helping prepare the area for future economic development.
In Perry County, 4 million dollars is earmarked for the Skyview Phase Two Housing Development, supporting the construction of flood-resilient, energy-efficient homes on higher ground.
Rogers says the investments will address critical infrastructure needs while strengthening economic opportunities across Eastern Kentucky. The funding must still be approved by the full House and Senate before becoming law.
