Two Students Detained After Threats at Whitesburg Middle School

WHITESBURG, Ky. (WXKQ) — Two Whitesburg Middle School students were detained on Thursday after allegedly making threats against another student and the school.

Officials say the situation began Wednesday night with a text message that included a threat of violence. The incident was reported to law enforcement and school police detained the students before classes began.

No weapons were discovered and both students were removed from the school.

The district says there was no lockdown, and no list or additional threats were discovered.

The case remains under investigation.
